HOW TO REACH US FROM THE NORTH
Exit the A1 Highway or Motorway at Firenze Nord or A11 (coming from Bologna o Lucca): follow the sign that shows the direction of "CENTRO" or "STADIO", until you get to Piazza della Libertà (a very large square), stay in the right hand lane and turn right into via Cavour i.e. the street where the Hotel Athenaeum is, we are about 70 metres down on the left hand side at the number 88. You can stop on the side and leave your luggage, we will look after your car but please advise us beforehand that you intend to drive to our hote. Therefore, just to summarise - Exit the highway or motorway for UK readers at Firenze Nord, follow the signals for the centre - Viale F.lli Rosselli - Viale Spartaco Lavagnini - Piazza della Libertà - Via Cavour.
HOW TO REACH US FROM THE SOUTH
Driving up to Florence from Rome your should exit the Motorway A1 Firenze Sud, follow the sign VIALI DI CIRCONVALLAZIONE, as you drive along the river Arno you should turn right at Lungarno del Tempio, keep going straight and you pass Piazza Beccaria closely followed by Piazzale Donatello the third square is Piazza della Libertà. Keep the left side because you need to go almost completely round the square, once you have turned your car and driving in the opposite direction, keep the right side because the 1st street on the right is Via Cavour (watch out as you need to move from the left side to the right side in a short distance).
The Hotel Athenaeum is on the left hand side at the number 88. You can stop directly opposite our hotel in a space reserved for our hotel guests, leave your luggage and our valet will look after your car... NB let us know beforehand if you intend driving to the Hotel Athenaeuml. Therefore just to Summarise, Exit the highway at Firenze Sud, follow the signals for the center - Lungarno del Tempio - Viale Amendola - Piazza Beccaria - Viale Gramsci - Piazzale Donatello - Viale Matteotti - Piazza della Libertà - Via Cavour. |

On foot you should take the underpass to via Nazionale and then walk all the way up Via Nazionale until you get to Piazza Indipendenza, turn right in via XXVII Aprile until the end when you get to Piazza San Marco, turn left in via Cavour and after 100 meters you will see the Hotel Athenaeum at number 88 Via Cavour.
By Bus: from directly outside the train station of Santa Maria Novella you should take any of the buses going to Piazza San Marco... you can alight at Piazza S.Marco and walk the 100 metres to our hotel.
